George M. Bingham



George M. Bingham, 80, died at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 7, 2008, at Lost Creek Care Center.

He was born Aug. 14, 1928, in Allen County to George Adam and Catherine Burke Bingham, who preceded him in death. He was raised by Lee and Lena Crumrine, who also preceded him in death. On Aug. 17, 1957, he married Martha Pauline Kuehl, who survives in Lima.

Mr. Bingham retired in 1990, from inventory control at Ford Motor Co. Lima Engine Plant. He was a member of St. John Catholic Church. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, American Legion Post 96, the American POW Northwest Ohio Chapter, the American POW Central Ohio Chapter, the National Korean War Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans Post 19 and Tiger Survivor. He was a member of the Ford Retirees and was a Kentucky Colonel. He was a 1963 graduate of Ohio Northern University. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, where he was a prisoner of war for 37 months.

Survivors also include three sons, John Michael (Jennifer) Bingham, of Lafayette, Matthew Joseph Bingham, of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Peter Adam Bingham, of Omaha, Neb; two daughters, Olivia Marie Bingham, of Lima; and Lucinda Terese (Dale) Werling, of Indianapolis; and eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel Lee Bingham; two brothers, John Frances and Charles Matthew Bingham; three sisters, Ruth Long, Mary Jane Shoff and Catherine Marie Minnich; and a grandchild.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John Catholic Church. Father David Ross will officiate.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Bayliff & Son Funeral Home, Cridersville.
