Alfred Andrew Drolet



A.A. DROLET, FATHER OF NILES MAN, DIES

Veteran Rail Employe, Active in Organizations, Stricken at Daughter's Home

Alfred Andrew Drolet, veteran railroad man and father of Francis B. Drolet of Niles, died Thursday in the home of his daughter in Kalamazoo.

Born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, Mr. Drolet was one of 13 children. He moved to Battle Creek with his parents at an early age.

Prior to his retirement two years ago due to ill health, he had spent 49 years as an employee of the old Clover Leaf railroad, now a part of the Nickel Plate system

He was also active in the affairs of the brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and served for years as the chairman of the grievance committee of that organization. He was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.

In 1887, Mr. Drolet was married to Lucy A. Kane, member of a pioneer Kalamazoo county family. They moved immediately to Delphos, Ohio, where they lived until the death of Mrs. Drolet seven years ago.

Mr. Drolet leaves four sons, Francis B., Niles, Emmet A., and Leigh C., Miami, Fla., and Louis M., a pharmacist at Richland; also two daughters, Mrs. Helen Dillon and Mrs. Lulu Solomon, both of Kalamazoo, and 13 grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Mr. Drolet will be buried in Battle Creek beside his wife. Friends have been requested to omit flowers.
