Dr. Willard Evans
Dr. Willard Evans, 96, died at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27, 2008, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.
He was born Dec. 26, 1911, in Rushmore to I.B. and Frances Reynolds Evans, who preceded him in death. On Feb. 24, 1934, he married Eleanor S. Sutton, who died Nov. 5, 1989.
Dr. Evans had owned and operated Evans Chiropractic in Columbus Grove. He had practiced in Ohio and Michigan for 36 years. He was a member of the Ohio State Chiropractic Association and the American Chiropractic Association. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School and Western States College of Chiropractic in Denver. He was a member of the Concept Therapy Institute of San Antonio. He was affiliated with the Columbus Grove Christian Church. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed refurnishing furniture. He and his wife loved to play pinochle.
Survivors include two sons, Dr. Don (Alice) Evans, of Columbus Grove, and Dr. Paul (Mary Ann) Evans, of Fostoria; two daughters, Linda March, of Trumbull, Colo., and Nata (Gregg) Miller, of Columbus Grove; a sister, Ruth Stewart, of Denver; two sisters-in-law, Waneta Trenner, of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Nancy Sutton, of Topeka, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Christine (David) Evans Corsetti, Diane Evans, Stacy (Brian) Stechschulte, Nadine Evans, Todd (Sue) Evans, Trent (Denise) Miller and Trevor Miller; seven great-grandchildren, Katherine and Ben Corsetti, Lindsay, Rachel and Kayla Stechschulte, and Walker and Sutton Evans; three stepgrandchildren, Chad (Rizza) Lannes, Melissa (Cory) Steffan and Mike Lannes; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren, Jacob, Natalie and Nathan Lannes, Christian, Taylor Shellito and Jacob Steffan, and Kelly Lannes.
He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, William March; four brothers-in-law, Gene Stewart, Adrian Wolfe, Kenneth Trenner and Robert Sutton; two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Wolfe and Evelyn Kline.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Pastor Dave Thompson will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery
