Dorothy Alice Gulker
Dorothy Alice Gulker, 100, died at 10:25 p.m. Aug. 16, 2008, at Lima Convalescent Home.
She was born April 30, 1908, in Allen County to Will S. and Lovern Porter Smith, who preceded her in death. On Feb. 6, 1937, she married Gilbert F. Gulker, who died Feb. 12, 1987, just after they celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Mrs. Gulker was a member of Shawnee United Methodist Church. She graduated from Lima South High School in 1927 and Ohio Northern University in 1966 with her teaching degree. She worked for several area schools before retiring from the Bluffton school system in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda G. (Thomas A.) Thompson, of Lima; and two grandsons, Jonathon D. Thompson, of Dayton, and David A. Thompson, of Columbus.
Services will begin at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Shawnee Chapel. The Rev. Bryan Bucher will officiate. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Lima.
Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
