E. Jack Goldsmith



RURAL MAN KILLED IN RT. 30 ACCIDENT

Harrod - E. Jack Goldsmith 56, of here died in a n automobile accident on Reservior Road.

He was born June 28th 1933 in Bath Township, the son of Edward V. Goldsmith and Lillian Cook. On June 9, 1951, he married Marilyn Mason who survives.

Mr. Goldsmith was a maintenance man at Buckeye Rubber Co. in Lima. He joined the Harrod Volunteer Fire Department in 1955 and was named assistant chief in 1957, a postion he held until he became chief in 1982. He attended the United Church of Christ in Harrod and was a member of the Allen County Task Force for Arson Investigation since 1981. He had been a Bunny Booster for the 4-H for 18 years and was a member of the Ohio Dutch Club and National Rabitt Breeders Association. He also coached Little League and Pony League for 13 years.

Survivors also include three sons, Derrol Goldsmith of Lafayette,and Dennis Goldsmith, and Robert Goldsmith both of Lima; two daughters, Mrs Keith (Joyce) Wymer of Harrod, and Mrs. Randall (Theresa) Plaugher of Wapakoneta; 15 grandchildren; a brother Donald Goldsmith of Alger.

Services will be at 11:00 a. m. Friday at Hanson-Nelley Funeral Home, Ada. Rev. Gary Rummel officating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery, Westminster. Friends may call at 7 to 9 tonight and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrod Fire and Rescue Squad.
