Hazel M. Swick Higbie
Hazel M. Swick Higbie, 100 died at 8:52 p.m. Aug. 13, 2000 at Lost Creek Care Cente. She was born Aug. 11, 1900 in Bluffton to Edgar Delzen Swick and Elizabeth Cahill.
On Nov 19, 1917 she married James Harold Higbie who died Nov 15., 1975. Mrs. Higbie was a homemaker. She attended Westminster Christian Church.
Survivors include four sons: Max D. (Gloria) Higbie of Delphos, Donald L. (Sarah) Higbie of Parkersburg, W VA, Harold R. (Shirley) Higbie of Harrod, and Jack L. (Barbara) Higbie of Ocala, FL ;a daughter Velma Gould of Cridersville; 23 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons; James E. and Marvin D. Higbie; a daughter Gladys Higbie; four brothers, Harry, Morris, Lawrence, and Robert Swick; two sisters Ruth Lewis, and her twin Helen Dancer; and; seven grandchildren.
Services will begin a 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes Lewis Chapel. The Rev. Dan Adams will officiate. Burial will be at Auglaize Center Harrod.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Harrod Rescue Squad.
