David W. Musser



David W. Musser, 87, died at 2 p.m. Aug. 16, 2006, at his residence.

He was born May 19, 1919, in Jackson Township to Benjamin D. and Mary Norton Musser, who preceded him in death. On July 26, 1956, he married Betty June Stauffer, who survives.

Mr. Musser retired in 1984 as a mechanic from 5 Acre Auto Wrecking, after 40 years. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370 and the 37th Division Veteran Association. He was a member of First Families of Allen County and a 50-year member of the American Bowling Congress. He was a graduate of Camp Shelby Vocational School. He was an Army veteran of World War II, where he graduated from Field Artillery School, Fort Sill, Okla. He was an avid bowler.

Survivors also include five daughters, Sondra (Roger) Courtney, Janet (Ralph) Roller and Kathy (Ronald V.) Hershberger, all of Lima, Donna Walters of Cridersville and Jeanne (Rick) Molenkamp of Grand Haven, Mich.; a brother, John Musser of Lima; a sister, Ruth Starr of Lima; and 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Benjamin and Dick Musser; and two sisters, Kate and Myrtle.

Services will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Homes, Wayne Street Chapel. Chaplain Richard Coon will officiate. Burial will be in Desenberg Cemetery, with military rites by VFW Post 1275.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
