Robert L. "Bob" Metz
Robert L. "Bob" Metz, 66, died at 9:09 a.m. Oct. 15, 2008, from injuries suffered in a vehicle accident at state Route 81 and Thayer Road.
He was born Aug. 26, 1942, in Lima to Harold E. and Mary K. Thompson Metz.
His father preceded him in death. His mother survives in Pandora.
On Oct. 1, 1965, he married Patricia G. Satterfield, who survives in Harrod.
Mr. Metz retired as a machinist from Tower Automotive, Bluffton. He had worked as a laborer at Teledyne Steel for 25 years. He enjoyed gardening, playing the guitar, communicating with others on the computer and working outdoors. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and teaching them to fish. He also loved going to Florida with his wife and spending time with friends there. When he was younger, he enjoyed softball, baseball and basketball.
Survivors also include two daughters, Wendy G. (Mark) Metz-McPheron, of Pine Island, Fla., and Stacy R. (Bob) Fowler, of Harrod; two grandchildren, Kayli and Morgan Fowler, both of Harrod; and a brother, Larry (Peggy) Metz, of Lima.
Services will begin at 1 p.m. Monday at Chiles-Laman Funeral Homes, Lewis Eastside Chapel. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery Mausoleum.
Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour prior to services Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
