Norwood O. Perry



CRIDERSVILLE — Norwood O. Perry, 90, died at 12:50 p.m. April 22, 2008, at Logan Acres Nursing Home, Bellefontaine.

He was born Aug. 21, 1917, in Lima to Harold and Mary Bowllinger Perry, who preceded him in death. In 1945, he married Doris I. Barnes, who died March 17, 2008.

Mr. Perry retired from B&O Railroad, after 30 years. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the American, European, African and Middle Eastern campaigns. He received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Medal, the WWII Victory Medal, Army of Occupation with Germany Medal Class 1, the Combat Infantry Badge, an honorable service lapel button with WWII, and a driver and mechanics badge with a W bar.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Glenn, of Bradenton, Fla.; five grandchildren, Candy Jones, Terrie Page and Jerry, Robert and Kenneth Alberding; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Chuck Fischer, of Flint, Mich.; and four nieces and nephews, Thorton Perry, of Washington, and Brian Fischer, Linda Fischer-Williams and Lani Flick.

He was preceded in death by a son, John Glenn; and two siblings, Rulen Perry and Nelda Fischer.

Graveside services will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima, with military rites by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1275. The Rev. Howard Allison will officiate. Arrangements are by Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, Lima.
