MAN FOUND DEAD

Christian Rhoda, 93, Passes Away At His Home

Christian Rhoda, 93, one of the pioneer farmer of Allen-co, was found dead in bed at his home in American-tp by members of his family Friday morning. His son had entered his room at 5:30 o’clock, and he was seemingly in the usual condition, but a few minutes later when other members of the family went to call him, he had passed away. The death resulting from infirmities.

He was born in Germany, but came to this country in 1852, settling on his farm in American-tp, where he lived for 60 years. He retired from active life several years ago, and made his home with a son Louis Rhoda. Two other sons William and Charles Rhoda, of the Rhoda Bros. Carriage shop also survive him. His wife preceded him in death a number of years ago.

The deceased was a member of the First Reformed church, being its oldest member. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the church, Rev. Hoerneman officiating. Interment will be made in Woodlawn cemetery.

NOTE: Christian Rhoda was in actuality Christian Rothe. His sons had changed their surname to Rhoda and when giving the information for the newspaper notice that surname was used. The cemetery records and his headstone are under the name Christian Rothe.
