Donald W. Rockhill



LAFAYETTE -- Funeral services for Donald W. Rockhill, 79, of North Washington Street, Lafayette, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Chiles and Sons-Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton, the Rev. Mickey Kimball officiating. Burial will be in Rockport Cemetery, Rockport, where military rites will be conducted.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Rockhill died at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2000 at Lima Memorial Hospital.

He was born Aug. 11, 1920 in Allen County to Lambert and Lena (VanMeter) Rockhill. He married Doris L. Evans on Dec. 1, 1942, and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Ronald of St. Marys; four daughters, Pamela Rockhill and Linda Furry, both of Lafayette, Patricia Cox, Bluffton; Rhonda Frost, Findlay; six grandchildren; and agreat-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by three brothers; Clarence and Lewis Rockhill, and Leon Boedicker.

Mr. Rockhill retired from the Allen County Engineers Office. He was a member of Lafayette-Jackson Volunteer Fire and Rescue and had served on Lafayette Village Council.

He graduated from Beaverdam High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Rockhill was a member of Lafayette United Methodist Church.
