Frederick Louis Snook

ANOTHER R.R. VICTIM

FOREMAN SNOOK OF THE P.F.W. & C.R.R. DIES OF BLOOD POISONING

The accident of Friday the 20th inst, Ends in his death at 2 P.M. yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock, Foreman Snook breathed his last, after a little over a week’s intense suffering from the loss of his foot in the P.F.W. & C.R.R. yards which occurred on Friday the 20th inst.

His condition seemed to be improving and every indication pointed that way until last Friday, at which time his condition began growing more serious. Yesterday morning the doctors gave up all hope of saving his life, and at 2 p.m. yesterday another victim was added to the already large list of the railroad companies accidental deaths.

As a matter of biography of Mr. Snook, there is but little to say. He was born December 24, 1836 at Nassau, Germany, where he spent his childhood and youth, coming to this country in 1853—in his 17th year. He came direct to Lima and took the position of water boy on the P.F.W. & C Ry in 1855. He worked in this capacity a short time and was then employed as a section hand which position he held until 1859 (?) when he was made section foreman. He held the same position until the accident which happened him the 20th inst, covering a period of 28 years.

Mr. Snook was married on the 25th of January, 1863, and is the father of five children all living.

He had been very fortunate with regard to accidents, sustaining but two slight ones prior to the one which ended his life.

Mr. Snook was one of the most efficient foreman in the employ of the Pennsylvania Company, and was well known in this city, and highly respected by all who knew him.

After his brother’s death last fall, Mr. Snook was placed upon the Building Committee of the German Reformed Church, of which he has been an active member for years.

His funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock from the German Reformed Church, Rev. J. H. Stepler officiating. His remains will be interred in Woodlawn cemetery.
