George S. Scott



George S. Scott, 81, of Oakwood, formerly of Lima, died Oct. 28, 2008.

He was born March 8, 1927, in Lima to Elfstathios (Steve Scott) and Jennie Scotidas, who preceded him in death. His wife of 57 years, Betty Scott, survives.

Mr. Scott and his wife owned and operated the Butcher Block, Kettering, from 1966 to 2006. He was a Golden Gloves boxer. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Browns.

Survivors also include three children, Greg (Patty) Scott, Tom (Ann) Scott and Susan (Miguel) Hernandez; 10 grandchildren, Amy (Ben), Kathleen (Brad), Bridgette (Mike), Sheryl (Michael), Nicholas, Jeffrey (Sarah), Colleen, David, Tommy and Julian; eight great-grandchildren, Annalisa, Tayla, Victoria, Miranda, Peyton, Gavin, Patric and Ryan; two brothers, Perry Scott and Alex Scott; two sisters, Mary Maxwell and Linda (Wayne) Yant; and several other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, Edmund H. and Viola V. Hinders Sr.; four brothers, James, who was killed in World War II, Charles, Steven Jr. and Danny Scott; and two sisters, Katherine Delph and Helen Buchanan.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at noon Friday at St. Albert the Great Catholic Church, Kettering.

Friends may call one hour prior to services Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local Alzheimer's Association, the Dayton Area Diabetes Association or ALS of Western Ohio.
