Virgil Charles "Bud" Sloan



Virgil Charles "Bud" Sloan, 80 died at 10:21 p.m. 20 Sept, 2000 at his residence. He was born in Allen County to Charles and Hazel Chambers Sloan. On December 27, 1937 he married Martha Jean Morrison who survives.

Mr Sloan retired in 1982 as a skilled machinist from Ex-Cell- O Corp, after 28 years. He attended St. Luke's Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Allen County Fair Board and was the Grand Marshal for this year's Allen County Fair Parade. He was a member of the Allen County Sheriff's Mounted Posse, and had been a Special Deputy for the Allen County Sheriff's Dept. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police Association Lodge 8, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, The Buckeye Riders and Drivers, The Ex-Cell-O Retirees Club, and a charter member of the Bath Volunteer Fire Dept. He was an auto racing fan.

Survivors also include two sons Joe (Nancy) Sloan and Virgil "Buck" (Jean) Sloan of Lima. Two daughters Edith J. (Calvin) Reese of Lima and Lynne Anne (Greg) Adams of Columbus Grove. A sister Persetta (Charles) Bowsher of Lima; 14 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by one grandchild; and a great-great-grandchild.

Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Chiles & Sons-Laman Funeral Home Lewis Chapel. The Revs. Aurther Z. Wilde and Delbert Domeier will officate. Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home Memorial contributiuons may be made to Helping Hands Hospice or St. Luke's Evangelical Building Fundh 44282.
